BARRY J. GOLDSTEIN

Barry J. Goldstein has an extensive background in law, accounting and real estate. A member of the Colorado Bar since 1971, Mr. Goldstein has also held a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and has been a licensed appraiser in the state of Colorado. A graduate of the University of Denver, Mr. Goldstein received his Juris Doctor from the University of California Hastings College of the Law in 1970.

 

After developing the necessary skills with Arthur Young and Company Certified Public Accountants (now Ernst & Young) and as managing director for Isaacson, Rosenbaum, Spiegleman & Friedman Law firm, Mr. Goldstein was a principal in Sterling Equities, a real estate investment, development and brokerage firm. Seeing a need for property tax protest advocacy, and the opportunity to combine his expertise in law and real estate, Mr. Goldstein launched Sterling Property Tax Specialists, Inc. in 1987, and the Goldstein Law Firm in 2008.

KENDRA L. GOLDSTEIN

Kendra L. Goldstein is a practicing attorney and principal with Sterling Property Tax Specialists, Inc. and Goldstein Law Firm, LLC. She has been an integral part of Sterling's team since 2000, working part-time as she obtained her undergraduate degrees. Since the commencement of her legal career in 2008, Kendra has worked alongside Barry J. Goldstein and the Sterling team.

A graduate of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, Ms. Goldstein was admitted to the Colorado Bar in October, 2008. Since then, she has become an invaluable asset for a wide circle of clients. She also worked in the Legal Department for the Australian Gas Light Company as well as clerking for the Honorable Robert S. Hyatt, 2nd Judicial District Court Judge, in Denver. Ms. Goldstein received an undergraduate degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from the University of Delaware.

BRENDA FEARN

Brenda Fearn, a property tax consultant, joined Sterling Property Tax Specialists, Inc. in 2012 and brings more than 30 years of real estate-related experience to the firm including 18 years of ad-valorem valuation. She provides expertise at every level of the property valuation appeal process.

 

Ms. Fearn holds a Colorado Certified General Appraiser license and has previously held a real estate sales license in Colorado from 1979 to 1983 when she began appraising real estate as an independent appraiser, for both individuals and lending institutions. In 1993, Ms. Fearn she became an appraiser for the Jefferson County Assessor’s office where she gained invaluable experience as an expert witness for the Jefferson County Board of Equalization and the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners. That same experience enables her to clearly understand the issues and concerns of commercial property owners in Colorado as they navigate the appeal process. She joined the team because of our long-standing reputation for providing professional and knowledgeable guidance and excellent customer service to clients.

DARLA JARAMILLO

Darla K. Jaramillo joined Sterling Property Tax Specialists, Inc. in 2015 as a property tax consultant. Ms. Jaramillo brings with her more than 26 years of ad-valorem and commercial real estate appraisal experience. She is a third-generation Colorado native who has seen vast changes re-define the landscape of Colorado. She began her ad-valorem career with the Arapahoe County Assessor’s office in Colorado where she spent 19 years, followed by 7 years with the Jefferson County Assessor’s office.

 

As a commercial appraiser with Arapahoe County, she handled the valuation of all industrial properties. While with Jefferson County as she handled a wide array of properties, including hotels, motels, auto service, dealerships, day care and  fitness centers and mixed-use. Ms. Jaramillo holds a Colorado Certified General Appraiser license and has been accepted as an expert witness before the Board of Equalization, Board of County Commissioners and the Colorado State Board of Assessment Appeals.


Prior to being employed with Arapahoe County, Ms. Jaramillo worked as a commercial loan approval officer which entailed working closely with business owners while reviewing financial data. She knows the importance of assessing your company’s expenses, with property taxes being one of the highest expenses incurred. The tax appeal process in Colorado can be a daunting endeavor. Ms. Jaramillo brings a level of experience to clearly recognize the issues and navigate through the process for the most reasonable solution. Ms. Jaramillo chose Sterling Property Tax Specialists, Inc., not only due to their outstanding industry
reputation, but her own experience of their professionalism, integrity and service to clients.

PAUL LEONARD

JULIAN FACTOR

Julian Factor joined Sterling Property Tax Specialist, Inc. in 2021 as a property tax consultant. Julian holds experience in commercial real estate, and has a degree in Real Estate Finance. He  began his career working for a large, privately-held real estate appraisal firm in Denver, CO. Throughout this work, he has gained vital experience working as a fee appraiser in all asset classes, with a specialization in multifamily property. In addition to his work as a commercial real estate appraiser, Julian has served institutional clients as a real estate consultant, covering acquisitions, asset management, lease abstraction and development. He challenged market assumptions and key metrics through the creation of Excel and Argus Enterprise DCF models and presented these findings to investors. 

 

This experience has given Julian the tools to understand the commercial real estate industry from different perspectives, including the real estate tax assessment processes.  Julian brings essential real estate experience and is privileged to work alongside the Sterling team.

Paul joined Sterling Property Tax Specialists in March 2021. Prior to joining, Paul owned and operated a premiere commercial appraisal business for 19 years. Paul has 30 years and over $5 billion dollars of commercial real estate appraisal and consulting experience. His clients have included regional and national banks, attorneys, property owners, and municipalities. Consulting assignments included tax appeals, litigation appraisals, buy sell decisions, market rent analysis for lease renewal disputes, feasibility studies, and expert witness court testimony.

 

Paul is also a licensed supervisor for municipal revaluations and has supervised mass revaluations for various municipalities encompassing several thousand commercial and residential properties per assignment. His appraisal experience includes valuations on most real property types including, but not limited to retail, office, industrial, apartments, mixed‑use, land, and special purpose – automotive, funeral homes, churches, marinas, going concerns, banquet facilities, college dormitories, tourist attractions, micro‑breweries, and lab space. He is qualified as an Expert Witness in Superior Courts and the Federal Bankruptcy Court. Paul holds several licenses in Colorado, Connecticut and California and an MBA from Bentley University.
